Memorandum to: ACA Members, Board of Governors, House of
Delegates and Other Interested Parties What is the old expression: " To error is human" Based on the error that I committed in my weekly report that you just received , I must be very human. The story about Trigon and the Virginia Medical Association that was in the AMA News was a good illustration of the problems our doctors face in Virginia. Unfortunately in my opening sentence I stated that the article was about Trigon and the Virginia Chiropractic Association. My apology to the Virginia Chiropractic Association. And I guess it means no Pulitzer prize this year. The correct version is as follows: It is interesting that a recent article in AMA News talked about the good relationship that exists between Trigon and the Medical Society of Virginia. Coincidental? The opening paragraph of the June 17 article ("The Medical Society of Virginia is One of Many that Help Resolve Problems") read: "When Trigon Healthcare announced it wasn't going to recognize a certain coding extender, the Medical Society of Virginia's physician practice advocate called company officials and reminded them that state law requires the insurer to recognize it. Trigon changed its policy." All of this from a simple phone call? When the doctors of ACA and the Virginia Chiropractic Association had a problem with Trigon, a phone call didn't work, a letter didn't work, and a face-to-face meeting was an insult. Pardon me for being a little skeptical! |
